The general ambience. Stone main building. Green land surroundings. The fine cuisine and attentative service.
Lovely as the car parking area trees are the tree bits/dust plus bird droppings are a nuisance at this time of the year. Having specially cleaned my car for use the next day I found the car back to square one the following morning! Still I suppose you can't have the country ambience without a price. Perhaps I should have got my man to clean the car for me, what!

Lovely stay with excellent food
Our room was clean and well-decorated, and the breakfast offered a good variety, including the best poached eggs I've ever had. The only minor downside was that the dining menu lacked some classic pub options we were hoping for. A wonderful experience with superb food and friendly staff.

The staff greeted me with warm hospitality upon arrival. The room was lovely, cozy, and spotlessly clean, offering a comfortable place to relax. I especially appreciated the fresh milk provided for tea and coffee and the delicious flapjacks waiting for me. Breakfast choices featured a range from traditional full English to eggs benedict, although the portion size of the haddock was a bit on the small side. Dinner at the inn was good, with the lamb dish standing out for its flavor and quality. I did find the menu lacking in some classic pub dishes that I had hoped to try. One annoyance was the weak water pressure in the shower. I really appreciated the great service and cute atmosphere.

My stay at the Devonshire Arms was good. The room in the Classic Double setup impressed me with fresh amenities and a cleanliness that complemented its charm. The breakfast, especially the porridge, stood out. The dim lighting on the stairs was slightly concerning, needing better visibility. A nice experience.

The stay was enjoyable overall, especially thanks to the fantastic host who was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The location was great for exploring the local area, and the food in the restaurant was exceptional. Unfortunately, the room was a bit small and faced a busy road, which made it noisy at times. the friendly atmosphere and quality breakfast helped make up for it.
